Meet Maeven
Hi, I’m Meg
In folk stories, healers often lived at the edge of the forest - in the liminal space between the wild dark and the familiar village. Between bone-deep memory and the practical decisions of everyday life. A sheltered space one could find or be lovingly directed toward when in need of aid not found elsewhere.
I cherish that position at the edge and my ability to help gather solutions from both sides. Not always the loudest voice, but a steady one. When people find their way here, I’m ready to meet them with plants, ritual and a framework for whatever transition they’re moving through.
I came to this work the way many do - through my own experimental healing. Much of what I know about herbs, rituals and the body was learned through caring for myself and loved ones during illness and injury.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, I trained as a doula and learned Southern Folk herbalism under the founders of Maypop Community Herb Shop in my hometown New Orleans. From there I deepened my practice at the Scarlet Sage Apothecary in San Francisco and worked alongside skilled community and clinical herbalists in what was (at the time) the oldest continuously running apothecary in the Bay Area.
I’m a generalist at heart when designing your care - drawing from Traditional Western and Southern Folk traditions, Ayurveda and basic elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
I specialize in supporting:
hormonal balance
PCOSprenatal + postpartum health
adrenal fatigue
digestive health
surgery prep + recovery
I’ve also studied somatic movement, attachment theory, nutrition and grief work with the hope of serving as a death doula soon. The goal across all these modalities is to help people tune in: to hear the song of their own vessel and respond with care. Thank you for trusting me to join that precious process!
Please note- I always refer out when something calls for more clinical expertise. I’m happy to help you make connections to the care best suited for you!The Story Behind Maeven Herbs + Maeven Aid
Maeven Herbs is named for the queen goddess Maeve - Celtic figure of cycles, seasons, creativity, change and fierce sovereignty.
In her name, this work honors the seasons we move through physically + emotionally + spiritually and how there is medicine to meet us all along the way.
Every product in the Maeven line was created in response to a real need: often a specific issue someone I loved was facing. These formulas are multitaskers crafted to adapt to your challenge, whatever it might be this time. Whether you’re healing a wound, softening into a new identity or simply tending to your skin with presence - these products are an invitation to reconnect with your vessel.
However, Maeven isn’t just about herbs. Maeven Aid offers a broader practice that includes ritual design, community connection and support releasing creative projects. I offer guidance through transitional times and all the quiet but powerful thresholds in between. I also support the creative process as its own gestation: honoring the birthing of ideas, the discomfort of change and the power of integration after release.
In this spirit, Maeven also features devotional or celebratory textiles dyed with herbs and vegetables along with altar cloths, memory quilts, precious pouches and ritual ceramics. Every item is made with heart and offered as a tool to bless, cleanse or mark a moment in time.
